Dear Grizzly Nation,

We are drawing closer every day to the end of the 2017-18 school year and with Spring Break and CAASPP testing now behind us, the commencement ceremony is just around the corner.  Also, we have just a few weeks of school before finals, so students must work diligently to finish the semester successfully.  Final progress reports have been mailed home, and it is imperative that all students and parents use that information to assess progress in each class.  Please continue to monitor School Loop and communicate with teachers and counselors if you have any concerns.
This is especially crucial for senior students as graduation is near, and we want to see all of our seniors at our commencement ceremony in Grizzly Stadium on Wednesday, May 23rd.  Details regarding our graduation ceremony will be coming soon to students and parents.  We do have a few senior activities still to come.  Please refer to the bullet points below for this information.  Seniors, don’t forget to make sure your represent yourself and Los Osos the right way in behavior and effort throughout semester so that you can participate in these fun moments with your friends.

Upcoming Senior Activies

  • Prom Rally - April 27th
  • Prom - April 28th
  • Grad Night - May 18th
  • Senior Sunset - May 21st
  • Graduation - May 23rd

Parents can continue to help their students by reviewing their student’s progress each day and by ensuring that homework is complete.  Remember, zero’s on assignments can be devastating to students grades so be sure to encourage your son and or daughter to complete every assignment and turn it in on time.  This can also be helped with daily attendance! Please work with us by making sure your student is attending every class, every day.   Finally, some students are taking online classes needed for graduation and/or college admissions. Let’s be sure to work together and ensure they complete those courses on time as well.

AP Exams begin May 7th and will conclude on next Friday, May 18th.  This year we have over 2,300 AP Exams that will be taken by our Grizzly students. This number is a school record breaking the previous number of over 1,900 just last school year.  It is amazing to see this high number of students pushing themselves with higher level courses in order to be better prepared for college and careers.  I am very proud of the work our staff has put into developing our young minds and preparing our Grizzlies to do well on these AP Exams.

Finals will be held on May 21-23 for grades 9-11 (these are minimum days), and senior finals will be May 17, 18, 21 & 22.  The finals schedule is on our home page of our website.  All students should begin preparing for finals each night by reviewing the content that they learned.

Summer School will be in session Tuesday, May 29 to Friday, June 29.  Counselors have been working hard to inform students who need to attend, however we encourage parents to contact your student’s counselor to see if your student needs to attend as well.

Finally, I would like thank Grizzly Nation for your support this school year! LOHS is a wonderful school and we are committed to growing in order to meet the needs of our students and live our motto, excellence is a habit.  I am proud to say I am a Grizzly and want all of us to continue to work together for the achievement of all students on our campus.  WE>I!!

Claws Up!

Important Message About Deliveries at School

We have examined the practice of dropping off items in our front office. This is a practice that local law enforcement and our school resource officer strongly recommend all schools not allow.  This practice also causes a major disruption in our guidance and front office area. Given the tragedies we have witnessed in schools across the country and the impact this practice has had on our campus, we have decided to take proactive steps to ensure a safe campus, therefore, no items will be accepted for drop off in our front office.  This includes, but is not limited to: food, phones, clothing, money, school work/materials and equipment.  If your son or daughter forgot to bring their lunch, please have them stop by our cafeteria and we will be sure to provide food for him or her.  Thank you for your understanding, cooperation and continued support in working together to provide a safe campus for all of our Grizzlies!
